Policenauts pc98 art1/27/2024 ![]() And about the MIDI board supposedly inside. ![]() So I'll have to settle and use the integrated sound card in the Cereb (anyway, I've played many games and have no problems with PCM and FM sound. You are right Kobushi, I bought a TN-F3FM board (FM 26 and 86 sound) and can not connect it in the PC-9821 Cereb, only in the PC-9801 DS. Thanks Kobushi, Snake Plissken and Anna_Wu. I don't think any version of AVSDRV.SYS will load properly, and since the Cereb doesn't have any C-bus slots, you can't add an 86 board. Regardless, I don't think it's possible to play Policenauts on the Cereb. You can boot the game with later versions of the driver, but the lip animations don't work. to play Policenauts properly with the lip animations, you need the original version of AVSDRV.SYS (included on the 86 board driver disk and with MS-DOS 5). Otherwise, you would need to use an older PC-9821 model (such as the A-Mate, B-Mate, or early C series) or plug in a PC-9801-86 sound board.īUT. I think there's a more recent version of the AVSDRV.SYS driver that works with the X-Mate and CanBe series. One problem is that the AVSDRV.SYS included in DOS 6.20 doesn't initialize properly on later PC98 models. Policenauts needs AVSDRV.SYS for playing back all the PCM voice samples, and will not start without it. There are two separate drivers: AVSDRV.SYS and AVGDRV.SYS That Policenauts error message is a typo.
